Pelican Crossing at Ravenscote

Surrey County Council recognised the need for a safe crossing at Ravenscote Junior School but, due to budget constraints, it was limited to installing a Road Table. 

Access to local GP Services

Since the coronavirus pandemic, Michael has been contacted by a number of constituents throughout Surrey Heath regarding the difficulties they have had accessing GP appointments.

Unauthorised encampments

In early 2019, a meeting was held in Runnymede, which was attended by senior representatives from virtually every Surrey district council, together with Surrey County Council, Surrey Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner and a number of Surrey MPs.

Cracking down on crime

I know that crime and anti-social behaviour is a significant concern for many of my constituents, and I meet regularly with my colleagues in Surrey Police, as well as others, on tackling crime.

More police officers

Ash Vale flooding

Many residents on the Avondale estate in Ash Vale have suffered from repeated flooding, and in May 2019 Michael wrote to SSE in wholehearted support of the application submitted by the 6th Avondale Residents Association for a resilience grant.

Heathrow Expansion

On 22 February 2019, Michael chaired a special Q&A session at the Briars Centre in Lightwater about Heathrow's Airspace and Future Operations Consultation, which closed on 4 March. Four representatives from the Airport were there to answers residents’ queries and concerns.

Developments in Ash and Tongham

Many local residents have expressed concerns about the number of housing developments in the Ash and Tongham area, and the lack of infrastructure to cope with an inevitable increase in population and the number of cars on the already congested roads.

Fairoaks Airport

Proposals were put forward to develop Fairoaks Airport into a Garden Village of 1,500 homes. Local residents fear the impact it would have on the neighbouring village of Chobham, which already suffers from congested traffic.

Frimley Green Traffic Lights

Local residents are campaigning against the prospect of 4-way traffic lights being installed on the Green as a consequence of the significant housing development coming to Deepcut. They maintain that if traffic lights are installed the whole character of the village Green will be altered.

Superfast Broadband for Surrey

Michael Gove welcomed the rollout of superfast broadband connectivity across Surrey Heath. To date, the Government-funded Broadband Delivery UK programme has made superfast broadband available to 5,116 homes and businesses in Surrey Heath.
